I grew up in a country where if you where lasy, you would have a difficult future. In Colombia, there is a word called: El Rebusque. El rebusque means in a few words: Trying to make a living. Now this may sound easy if you live in Norway, Canada or Australia (like me), but in Colombia, achieving to make a living is quite a difficult task.

That’s why one of my new mottos is to take advantage of others people laziness. Only when you really embrace how lazy people is by nature you will be able to understand and see clearly how many times life’s give you the opportunity to succeed .

Sometimes It seems that our laziness is based on the typical mistake of over-thinking . We love to over think, we can spend days, months and years planning and considering all the options of a potential project. Then time goes by and we do nothing. I recently understood this when I was reading business as Unusual from Anita Roddick , the founder of the Body Shop. In her Book, Anita defines that speed, agility and responsiveness are the keys to future success.

When is the last time that you say a fast, agile and responsive lazy person?

Never.

So my invitation today is for you to embrace others people laziness for a change of taking first place. To be the leader in your niche, to be the faster formula one driver in your Grand Prix. Because only when we react, only when we work towards “achieving to make a living”, we realize that fighting against laziness brings creativity, satisfaction and a productive energy. In the last months I have found that this productive energy is what is worth to live for.

I think at the end of the day I have to agree with the following quote.

“ The average man doesn’t wish to be told that it is a bull or a bear market. What he desires is to be told specifically which particular stock to buy or sell. He wants to get something for nothing. He does not wish to work. He doesn’t even wish to have to think.”

Since the last 2 months I have been working from home and It hasn’t been easy. I decided to fly solo after years of working for “other people” and trying to “help them” to build a fortune.

Then a few months ago, I came to the conclusion that profits are better than wages. So since then I work from home, and I’m flying solo since then…

There are many great thing about working from home, but I have to honest to all of you, It hasn’t been easy. It is difficult to be professional, and completing the everyday tasks that I put to myself can be challenging. So that’s why I decided to post my 10 tips for working from home.

1. Have an office - This is the most basic step, you need to have a place where you work, and you only go there to work. If you are a tradesman, it can be your shed with your tools, if you are a web designer, it can be your office. What ever you do, have a clear place where you know THAT IS THE PLACE where you work.

2. Wake up early - Just because you work from home it doesn’t mean you should have a start time.

3. Try to create a priority system - Having a priority system can help you to understand where you should put your energy first and what sort of tasks, jobs can be delayed . You are not superman, so don’t try to act like if you were . Take everything step by step and things will start working out.

4. Get out of the house - this is weird that i put here, understanding that i’m writing about working at home, but the key is thart at some stage you have to breath some fresh air. In my case I take my dog for a walk, the walk takes 20 minutes minimum so that helps me to clear my mind.

5. Working music - I have a selection of music that I hear only when I’m working. I try to listen to classic music or relaxation music. I tried different strategies like working while dancing ACDC, Nirvana or Rock and Roll…. it works better when you are in a relaxation mode, instead of Concert mode.

6. Eat properly - avoid snacks and junk food, have a proper lunch.

7. Learn when to have a break - and do something during the brake.

8. Learn when to stop - One of the most difficult things for people that work from home, is that we end working longer hours than any other normal employee. Mainly because it is easy to continue working. You need to learn to stop, and relax, have a quiet time (like my wifes calls it.)

9. Have a “weekend” - Unplugging yourself from work, is the best thing you can do, specially when you work from home. Let’s face it, one of the advantages of working from home, it the capacity and the chance of spending more time with your family, so take advantage of that. Take a holiday while being at home. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your life.

10. Stay away from time- The time wasting channels can called many names. youtube, facebook, myspace, the television, the Xbox, the wii, the PS3, you name it. Stay away of these channels, concentrate in your tasks, in your job, try to be productive and you will realize quickly that working from home is a luxury not everyone is brave enough to afford.

It is pretty strange when you decide to tell the world, very personal things. You write in a blog, and deep inside you don’t know what people are going to think about you. Do I care? Not really, but deep inside every time someone blogs, they expect to be read, and they expect to be understood. Today I want to talk about leaving to your kids, a blog.

I’m a brand new father, I’m 31 years old this year, and for me life has been a fast rollicoster, I have done everything I wanted to do, from backpacking around the world, living the hippie life in Egypt, through the 9 to 5 corporate life in Ireland and Holland. I also started my business when I was 20 and after 2 years it went downs faster and in a more dramatic way than the Titanic.

Now after more than 11 years and living in 8 different countries, I realized that the most important thing in my life is my son.

How can I explain who I am to my son if something happens to me? How could I explain him about the process that I took to become who I am now?

For sure difficult, I want my son to know the person that I am NOW. Whenever he is old enough to have a proper chat with me (that doesn’t include spider man or Dora the Explorer) well, in that moment I will be ANOTHER person. We always change and we are different human beings every so often.

That’s why, leaving this blog to my son is a good idea. My son will be able to access this blog and read my personal path, my ideas, my philosophy, my believes. My son will have in his hand, in front of his eyes, all the ideas that I though at some stage great. He will be able to laugh, to learn and hopefully understand the human beings are just in a process, and the process is eternal, interesting, challenging and amazing.

So if you have kids like I do: Lucky you. Enjoy them, they are simply the best thing you will ever have.

And why not, join the club, leave them a blog, leave them your blog, open the doors for them to meet you in the way you are today, in a few years time.

I’m writing this post listending to Jack Johnson Good People song, trying to figure out how to explain the main idea behind OneSector.com

I bought One Sector in the second hand market, and when I saw the domain, I knew I had to have it. I love the domain name, it is catchy and for sure many people will be able to remember it, pretty easy.

So what is OneSector.com ? Onesector is the state of mind that entrepeneur gets themself into tying to achieve one good and positive objective.

One Sector is the menthaly disposition to learn and to be able to accept that you need a menthor, that you need inspiratation and that you need to read, study and work hard to achieve a higher level of understanding in your profession, niche, area.

One Sector is the capacity to work by yourself understanding that potentialy you will be your only judge.

One Sector is being good with yourself, and trying to be good people.

One Sector is the state of mind, when you realize that your path is the most vital part, that the final objective is just a normal and natural reward . The path is what drives you. The learning. The capacity of improving. The amazing opportunity to make your business, your life and your every day something amazing.

One Sector is the believe that you can be a super start. That you have the change of becoming someone great, someone than can make a difference.

To find your One Sector, you need to be tired of conventional 9 to 5 office work, you need to be hungry of finding total freedom, be willing to be your own boss, your own teach and your own guru.

One Sector is for an etrepeneur to achieve “the Zone” , the moment when you realize what you really want to do with your life.

One Sector is the clear understanding that the life you choose is the best life possible and it is the path that will bring you the more satisfaction and free time to spend with your family.

One Sector orientared people want to have more quality time… more independence, a brighter future a healthier present.

The first idea if you are an Internet-fanatic… is : no way Jose. I can’t live without the net. I need to be connected, I need to check my emails, I need to be in contact.

So in theory we can’t live without facebook, cnn.com , google.com or youtube, we can’t life without accessing the net and getting ALL the INFORMATION that we want NOW . Because that is what Internet seems to be all about, getting the info you want, in the moment you want. Being always connected , spending hours in front of the PC, in front of thousands of sites…
So it seems that we can’t survive 1 week without Internet, and then I try to go a bit deeper.

Is that it? Are we Internet Slaves?

What about living without our family? our country? what about surviving one week without your son, without a house? What about surviving one week without the hope of life?

So if you think you can’t survive 1 week without Internet, go back to the core of your life, and think of how fragile life is

This is quick, sad and hard example: China Earthquake . For sure you read it on the net, but what about if you where one of the people in the earthquake? What about if I was one of the people in New Orleans? In Burma ?

It makes you wonder if sometimes we have our priorities wrong, if sometimes we forget that life is more than the flat screen, the fast connections, the mp3 players and the high tech-gizmo-collection that in theory we need to keep us “alive”.
